ECOSOMATIC COACHING: COACHING WITH BODY & EARTH

In this webinar, you’ll discover why embodiment and nature connection can empower your coaching session. COACHING WITH NATURE: Co-creating change with the natural world

We have a vision for a future coaching profession that invites nature as co-coach, and in this way contributes to a regenerative and sustainable way to live on this planet “which is ours, but not ours alone” (in the words of Janine Benyus, Biologist and Biomimicry Pioneer).

In this session, we will offer participants frameworks and approaches to coaching in partnership with nature that we have independently developed in our work as coaches. This session will provide participants with evidence-based practices, frameworks and principles that can be used to:

• explain to clients why they should start doing sessions outdoors, in connection with nature, especially for leaders, policy-makers and change-makers in the field of sustainable development and social change
• empower coaching presence and listening ability
• enhance thinking out of the box and creativity during a coaching session
• develop systemic thinking in support of the coachee’s facing her/his challenges
• unfold the coachee’s potential

Finally on the official TED Youtube channel has been posted the TEDx Talk that James Farrell
(environmental scientist, founder of The Natural Coaching Company) and I gave in September at the
University of Aston (UK): “Letting nature be your coach” that’s to say let nature be the coach in your life.

During the TedX I told a piace of my “love story” with the Adda River, and how nature can make us better people.

I’ve just come back from Prague, where I held a Nature Coaching Workshop at ICF Converge19, the International Coach Federation biennial Congress uniting coaches from over 70 countries in the world.

My Workshop was part of the “Science” workshops, it lasted one hour and you can download the slide deck along with the handout that was reserved to attendees, by clicking HERE.

Nature Coaching Academy; International Edition in 2020

I was very excited by the tremendous interest around Nature Coaching.

In 2020 I’ll launch the first International Edition of The Nature Coaching Academy and I’m going to design multiple options for international participants to join (either in-person trainings and online courses).

I’m in the process to get all my courses accredited by the International Coach Federation, the gold standard for coaches worldwide, and I plan on getting either credentials for CCEU and for ACSTH. I’ll keep you posted about this!

Coaching Workshops at Converge19

Also, I participated in great workshops held by other coaches. And I want to mention two of them in particular:

• The Inner Playground, with Debra Gerardi, who taught us with humour and brilliance how to use playfulness for creating connection with our coachees, and to co-create a safe space for personal growth, deep communication and insight.
• Coaching Collective Connective Intelligence, with Zoran Todorovic, who ignited every coach’s soul with a speech full of vision, systemic thinking and courage. The key concept for me has been that every time we as coaches facilitate the evolution of a single person we’re also working around the evolution of humanity as a whole. Powerful!

I have been connecting with coaches from around the globe and I felt enthusiastic and grateful for the deep conversations that I had especially with coaches from Indonesia, Malaysia, France, UK, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and USA.

In particular, I enjoyed so much a beautiful evening walk around the magnificent Vysehrad Castel, connecting with the magical genius loci of Prague (Praha in Czech language) thanks to Halka Balackova.

Upcoming research about the impact of nature-connection on coaching efficacy

I finally met in-person Alison Hodge and Joel Di Girolamo, Director of Coaching Science at the International Coach Federation. We’re considering the opportunity to design a scientific research to measure the impact of nature-connection on the efficacy of a coaching session.

ICF Converge19: a great event every coach should attend

It’s been my first time at the Congress of the International Coach Federation and I could not be happier. I look forward to the next edition of Converge!

In this article I discuss some definitions of Nature Coaching that we find on the web, distinguishing between a type of Nature Coaching where Nature is just a simple background or container of the coaching dialogue, and my perspective Nature is the Co-Coach and has an active role during the session.

I also talk about the necessary shift from an anthropocentric to an ecocentric approach to Nature, inviting you to develop awareness of the intrinsic value of Nature and all living beings, and a felt sense of interdependence and interconnection with the land, your place and all living beings.

I address the ecological, social and spiritual crisis of our times connecting it with our lack of connection to Nature, as many scientists, psychologists and researchers are more and more acknowledging (see Otto Scharmer, Peter Senge, Andy Fisher and Craig Chalquist, along with the wider Biomimicry researchers and nature connection worldwide movement).

Nature Coaches can impact the process of culture repair that we need to develop now with urgency.

As some of my favourite authors write:

The global crisis is, in essence, a crisis of perception.
There can be no technological fix, but only a shift in our way to perceive ourselves and the relationship with the earth.
